Australians love their chickens, so much so that each Australia eats on average about 50 kilograms of chicken every year. That means that nearly 690 million meat chickens are raised every year for Aussie consumers. One thing that these consumers deeply care about is animal welfare. We were invited by the RSPCA Australia, to look at the RSPCA Approved Farming Scheme, to understand what higher animal welfare standards look like on the farm through to the supermarket shelf. In this video we met with both Ingham's and Baiada to look at both barn raised and free range farming, as well as traditional genetics and the new slow-grown variety of birds. The organisation aims to combat isolation and build stronger community bonds through shared physical activities. By promoting health and well-being, Active Farmers supports the resilience of rural communities across Australia.

We have also shot a number of short form videos focused on tackling some of the misconceptions people may have on the Active Farmers sessions.
